Are you ready to start learning to drive?
Follow our easy steps below and get yourself on the road in no time at all
1. Do you have a provisional licence?
Before you can start lessons you must hold a provisional licence. If you don't already have one you will need to apply for one to the DVLA. You can get an application form from your local post office. You need to be 17 years of age or older to apply for a provisional car driving licence, but you can apply up to three months before your 17th birthday for the licence to become valid on your 17th birthday.
2. Have you passed your theory test?
There are two parts to the driving test. The theory and hazard perception test and the practical driving test. You must pass the theory and hazard perception test before you can apply for the practical driving test.
3. How do you want to structure your driving lessons?
You can start practical driving lessons as soon as your provisional driving licence becomes valid. You do not have to pass the theory and hazard perception test first.
You may want to learn at your own pace taking driving lessons on a weekly basis. If this is the case you have a number of options -
a. You can pay by the hour as you take the driving lessons, arranging the lessons at times to suit yourself on a weekly basis with your instructor.
b. You can prepay for a block booking of driving lessons, and by doing this you will get a discount on the individual hourly rate. You can still arrange the driving lessons at times to suit yourself, which may be on a weekly basis, or arranged as a quick course (sometimes referred to as intensive courses or fast pass courses).
You may want to learn to drive quickly because you need your driving licence for a job opportunity, or maybe you have a holiday from college or university coming up and it would be ideal for you to pass your driving test during this time. Whatever the reason we can arrange an intensive driving course for you whereby all the lessons you need are arranged ususally over a one week period with your driving test at the end of it.
For all intensive driving courses it is recommended that you take an initial 2 hour assessment lesson, so that you book the right intensive course for you. Intensive courses can be taken by complete beginners, with no experience at all. People who have some experience of learning to drive, but didn't get to the standard ready to take the practical test. Or people who have previously reached driving test standard, but unfortunately failed the test. Therefore our intensive driving courses vary from a 10 hour course up to a 30 hour course, don't worry we'll help you decide which one is right for you.
To be able to arrange an intensive course, you must firstly pass the theory and hazard perception test. We can then agree with you when you want to do the intensive crash driving course, and book a driving test for you which will be arranged for the end of the intensive driving lessons.
